RFA may have experienced incredible growth recently, but we recognize that all of this wouldn’t be possible without our one true love: The “Do Not Flush” Symbol.

The DNF symbol, now prominently displayed on packaging of non-flushable wipes, such as baby wipes, cleaning wipes, and makeup removal wipes (to name a few), enables all of us to become more responsible flushers. As a result, this symbol has galvanized industry leaders, wastewater groups and consumers alike in coming together to create a decrease in clogs and fatbergs by providing better guidance about what not to flush.

We are dedicated to increasing consumer awareness, so more flushers are reminded to follow the DNF symbol guidance, thus protecting our pipes and the environment. Through our educational resources, geared towards all ages, we have helped Californians recognize and understand the symbol. Our research shows that Californians demonstrate proper flushing habits after understanding the DNF symbol.

Across the globe, we’ve seen the damage that non-flushable substances can do to our waterways and pipes. But, we hope to help prevent these kinds of massive clogs from forming by encouraging consumers to incorporate easy tips and tricks into their lives, from throwing away non-flushables like makeup wipes and baby wipes in the trash to properly disposing of cooking oils in order to prevent fatbergs. Through recognizing the importance of the DNF Symbol, we’ve gotten one step closer to fighting the Clog Monster. Cities and households across the nation have been able to reduce the amount of monetary and infrastructural damage that non-flushable substances have on our homes and communities.

So, this Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating our one true love: the “Do Not Flush Symbol.” Thank you, DNF symbol, for keeping our pipes free and clear from Clog Monster and his disastrous fatbergs!
